Private tour of Ronda, the Romantic City
The history of one of Spain’s oldest cities
As Ernest Hemingway once said: “Ronda is the place to go if you ever go to Spain for a honeymoon or with a girlfriend. The whole town and its surroundings are a romantic setting”.
Ronda is undoubtedly a romantic city, where culture, history, incredible panoramic views, good wines and excellent food blend together. Apart from its impressive Puente Nuevo (New Bridge) and its marvellous viewpoints, Ronda has much more in store for the traveller.
On this private tour of Ronda you will discover the history of one of the oldest cities in Spain while you walk through the old town and visit some of the most important monuments of the city.
We will start with a visit to the Bullring of Ronda. Whether you are a fan of the bullfighting world or not, we are talking about a work of art in terms of its architecture and history. Inaugurated in 1785, it is one of the oldest and most monumental bullrings in Spain. Inside awaits an impressive bullring surrounded by beautiful Tuscan columned arches and an interesting museum underneath.
We will make a stop at a 19th century Art Nouveau mansion. Here, apart from visiting its beautiful garden and rooms, we will have time to enjoy an exquisite glass of wine accompanied by one of the best views of the Tagus that the city has to offer.
We will also contemplate the beauty of Ronda from a totally different perspective. A beautiful 17th century spiral staircase leads to the roofs of the Church of Santa María la Mayor, a mixture of architectural styles and the tallest building in the historic centre of Ronda.
Located outside the walls of the old Medina, we find one of the best preserved Arab Baths in Spain. A treasure built between the 13th and 14th centuries and an ideal place to cleanse body and soul. We will visit its different rooms and learn about the importance and the different uses of one of the most important resources of our planet: water.
We will finish this private tour of Ronda exploring some of the old roads of the city, and of course, delighting ourselves one last time with some wonderful views of the Tajo de Ronda.
