El Puerto de Santa Maria is one of the key places to understand the wine culture and the history of trade with America. This town was known as “the City of 100 Palaces”, because of the flourishing trade with America. These ancient merchants and wholesalers were known as “Cargadores a Indias” (shippers to the Indies) and made their future mainly with wine and oil.
During the guided tour you will discover the art and architecture of El Puerto de Santa Maria, but perhaps the most outstanding monument is the Castillo de San Marcos. This medieval fortress, which is also a Christian temple, was built on the foundations of a 12th century mosque. On this visit you can even see part of that ancient Andalusian mosque.
In your visit to El Puerto de Santa Maria you can not miss the Iglesia Mayor Prioral. It is the main temple of El Puerto de Santa Maria and a magnificent example of Renaissance and Baroque art in Andalusia.
Depending on the day and the season, we will visit key places to get to know the flavor of the Port, such as the central market or the sweets of the Conceptionist Sisters. The gastronomic finale awaits you in an old winery dating from 1838, where you will discover all the winemaking tradition of this beautiful city. To end the visit, an extraordinary lunch with wine pairing of the wines of Puerto de Santa Maria awaits you.

Note: this activity can be done from Monday to Friday with outbound boat and return by private transfer. On Saturdays, Sundays and holidays it is only possible to do it with private transfer.
