Day trip to Ubeda and Baeza
A journey to the World Heritage Site of Jaen
Travel to Ubeda and Baeza to be dazzled by two of the most beautiful monumental towns in Andalusia. We are talking about two cities of ancient origin where the Muslim, Jewish and Christian religions flourished. Since 2003, Ubeda and Baeza have been declared World Heritage Sites for their spectacular concentration of monuments.
The first stop of your experience is in the city of Baeza. Here you will take a private tour of its historic centre designed to see the most representative features of this magnificent city.
During this visit you will enter the Jabalquinto Palace, a building that moves stylistically between the Middle Ages and the modern age. Behind its Gothic façade you will be dazzled by the perfect Renaissance style of its courtyard. You will also have the opportunity to visit the Cathedral of the Nativity and even climb its bell tower for spectacular views.
Before leaving Baeza you will enjoy a tasting of local products. Of course, virgin olive oil from the lands of Jaen will be one of the gourmet products to be tasted, but also original products such as ‘virolos’ and ‘ochío’.
We head for Ubeda to visit the Hospital de Santiago, perhaps one of the most sublime works of the Spanish Renaissance. You will marvel at the proportions of its porticoed courtyard and the exquisite decoration of its staircases.
For lunch we will prepare a reservation in a restaurant according to your needs. After the culinary delight it is time to visit the other jewel of Jaen, Ubeda.
You will take a private tour to get to know the essence of Ubeda. You will walk through charming stone streets that will make you travel to another time. Along the way you will visit unique places such as the Sinagoga del Agua (Synagogue), a Hebrew temple that preserves the ritual bath of medieval times.
An essential stop on your tour of Ubeda is the Sacra Capilla del Salvador (Sacred Chapel of the Saviour). This funerary temple contains an enormous repertoire of works of art from all times.
Before leaving Ubeda, you will visit the most prestigious pottery shop in the region. Its pieces are handmade in one of the few Arab ovens that are still in operation. Its work has transcended international borders and has even supplied the Spanish Royal Household.
Come and discover these two jewels carved in stone, both World Heritage Sites.
